AMANDA & MARCUS

are getting married

Who

The Story

Amanda Walchak

What can I say about Amanda (that I won't cover in my vows)...Well, for one, she's one of the kindest, most genuine people you will ever meet. Seriously, she will do whatever she can to help the people in her life and go any distance. She also manages to put just as much care into her work when she has to, which is amazing given that she works with kids pretty much all day every day (and boy does she have stories to tell). She's passionate, she cares, and she's tough which comes in handy when taking on not only armies of children, but just about anything else life can throw at her.

Not only does she teach 3rd grade, she also teaches dance, which she loves to do (especially at weddings). I am so grateful to have a dance partner for all of my future dances, and not just the ones on the dance floor, but in our kitchen, and just about anywhere.

Did I forget to mention that she loves breakfast, her friends, her family, Disney, country, the Patriots, the Red Sox, and our dog Poe? I mean, that’s a pretty solid list of pros right there (minus the country bit).

Marcus Freeman

I remember meeting Marcus for the first time, I was immediately struck by his zest for life, passion for art and design, and strong ties to his friends and family. I learned quickly that he goes out of his way to make everyone in his life feel important and appreciated. On top of that he has a great love for Star Wars and Marvel (which I am quickly developing as well), he is an extremely talented artist, and last but not least he is a perfect match on the dance floor!

Marcus never lets an opportunity go to waste in letting someone know how much he cares and appreciates them. I've been the recipient of secret notes in my car, special themed baked cookies in my lunch box, or a text to remind me that he loves me. What is even more incredible is that it's not just for me, it includes his friends and parents as well. Special drop in surprises, cards just because, and phone calls to check in on daily life.

I am looking forward to showing Marcus just how much I appreciate him and all that he does for those in his life as we begin the rest of our lives together.

When

October 26, 2019

To be more specific, the ceremony will begin at 4:00pm. Shortly followed by cocktail hour and dinner around 5:30pm.

Dancing will start early and continue through 10pm.

What

It's a Wedding!

Merriam-Webster defines wedding as "a marriage ceremony usually with its accompanying festivities". I mean, that seems pretty obvious, but we just wanted you to know in case you had never heard of the word "wedding" before.

We'll begin with a short ceremony, toast at the cocktail hour, and then move to dinner or should we say brinner.

All events will take place on site at Birch Hill Farm (which you can read more about below).

Attire

What to Wear

Consider our wedding a semi-formal event (so no need for a formal evening gown or tuxedo), but do remember that this is late October, so dress for comfort.

For the record, the historical average temperature in Gilford for October 26 is 58º F, with a record high of 75º. Last year it was 47º F during the day and 32º F at night. We will have heaters in case it gets cold. Also, it could rain but it isn't out of the question for snow.

Attention Ladies: there are a variety of ground surfaces to consider for this event including the following: grass, gravel, and old barn wood floors. When choosing footwear, choose wisely.

Where

Birch Hill Farm

There will be a shuttle bus departing from the hotels at 3:30 PM on Saturday, October 26th to bring you to the venue.

Please note that there is no parking on site and therefore you must arrive and depart via shuttle. The shuttle will be available throughout the duration of the event for guests to use at their convenience.

The Other Whos

The Wedding Party

Maid of Honor

Elizabeth "Lizzy" Cannon

Elizabeth is one of Amanda's many aunts and has been around for all the pivotal moments in a her life (minus a brief stint of time spent in California where we've determined Amanda missed out on a lot of something knowledge). Amanda had determined, essentially at birth, that the two would be best friends (sorry Lizzy). While growing up Amanda always followed Lizzy around as a shadow. Elizabeth helped Amanda set her path at UNH and provided much needed guidance when going through her Master's program. They frequently chat on the phone to discuss life events, check in on family members, or just discuss the dance world. Amanda is thrilled that Lizzy accepted the position of MOH and looks forward to having her by her side.

Best Man

Steven "Este" Burnett

Legend has it that both Steve and Marcus were meant to be born on the same day, but due to a cosmic misalignment Marcus was born early and Steve was born late. Tardiness aside, Steve has helped Marcus through multiple challenging moments in his life, being a lifeline, a source of wisdom (though he may not admit as much), constant source of humor, and chock full of crazy ideas which they regularly discuss almost every Monday. His opinion is one of the reasons why Marcus proposed to Amanda. He is fiercely loyal and has proven on multiple occasions that brotherhood has nothing to do with blood. Steve is the best man Marcus knows, hence it is fitting that he will be by his side on the most important day of his life (so far).

Junior Bridesmaids

Abigail "Abby" Mader

Abby can sometimes be referred to as Amanda's mini me, they share the same long brown hair, freckles, mannerisms, and a passion for dance. Amanda has always loved Abby's sense of humor and the late night laughs that have occurred over all their time together. Abby is also located roughly 1700 miles away and because of that the girls do their best to make every moment count. Abby is very driven and focused on school, dance, her puppy Dexter and family (sound like someone we know...). Amanda is looking forward to have Abby with her to complete the trio of teenage cousins!

Isabella "Bella" Cannon

Bella has grown up having Amanda around except for when she was in college and then moved to Disney (Bella strongly dislikes when Amanda moved to Disney). Together their lives have involved plenty of Disney princesses, years of dancing, and an extreme amount of Harry Potter. Together they have shared many laughs, inside jokes, and a good amount of bracelets and necklaces engraved with BFFs. Amanda's day wouldn't be complete without having Bella at her side!

Emerson "Em" Mader

Emerson and Amanda have been very close even though their lives have been separated by roughly 1700 miles and a varying amount of weather. Amanda loved going down to visit Emerson, even when she wasn't old enough to walk. It involved a lot of cuddling as a baby, crazy late night conversations, trampoline jumping, and pool swimming. The girls have had so much fun over the years at various weddings, family holidays, and reunions. Emerson is very protective of Amanda and is looking forward to giving Marcus an intimidating "If You Hurt Her Speech". It wouldn't be right without her there and Amanda is so happy she has agreed to be a part of this day.

Ring Bearer

Zachary "Zach" Cannon

Zach is looking forward to his debut as a ring bearer. He is determined that he'll be carrying the rings down on a pillow and even though those details haven't exactly been worked out he is taking his responsibilities very seriously. Zach and Amanda have had many great times together playing Sorry!, Monopoly, various other board games. He's looking forward to dressing as Marcus's mini me and busting a move on the dance floor!

Flower Girl

Brooke Gryval

Brooke is Amanda's oldest niece and immediately created a soft spot in Amanda's heart from the first time she held her. That love only grew especially on numerous occasions where the two would spend time together and Brooke would run towards Amanda screaming "AUNTIE"! She'll be sure to steal the show so keep an eye out for the beautiful and talented Brooke in her debut as flower girl.
